Edge of Darkness will be discontinued after fully releasing the game. How much time do players have to enjoy this premium edition?
Escape from Tarkov’s Edge of Darkness (EOD) Edition is the game’s currently most expensive package available in stores. The package’s price is justified by the amount of DLC content, Tarkov items, and other quality of life features (QoL) available upon purchase. However, players only have the game’s full launch to buy the EOD, as the package will be discontinued when the game goes live.
EOD Will Be Discontinued After Full Release
Nikita Buyanov, COO of Battlestate Games, confirmed that the premium edition of Escape from Tarkov would be removed from the shop once the game is fully released. The announcement was prompted by a question on whether the pack will still be available for Tarkov accounts when the shooter spin-off of EFT is launched. Buyanov stated that the EOD would be available after Escape from Tarkov Arena.
Several gamers have determined that Edge of Darkness will receive a replacement during the game’s complete release. EFT Streamer Pestily speculated that the gaming studio would release a new premium edition that will provide various benefits but won’t give access to subsequent DLC. These include the upcoming Streets of Tarkov, Terminal, the Suburbs, and Town. Fortunately, there is no set a date for EFT to release early access.
Battlestate Games stated that even more maps would be released in the future. The majority of these will go live as DLCs. There are no further details on when these new contents will be removed.
What is the Edge of Darkness Edition?
EOD is currently known as the game’s ultimate edition. The package contains complete access to a bunch of content that gamers with Tarkov accounts would want. Here is what the Escape of Darkness Edition has:
- Stash Size (10×68)
- Gamma Container (3×3)
- Excellent Starting Gear
- Good Reputation with Every Trader
- Complete Access to all available and subsequent DLCs
- Unique User ID
The package is sold for $140, a good deal for all the QoL improvements it provides. However, for beginners, it is advisable to start with the standard edition to get the feel of the game before they commit to buying more premium editions. Players can upgrade to more expensive packages later on.
For gamers with limited play time, buying the premium edition is highly recommended. The advantage that EOD presents makes every incursion fruitful and worthwhile. The benefits will also help players learn the game despite its steep leveling curve.
Gamers should note that almost everything in EOD can be excavated in the game. Players can be acquired through hours of grinding, so people don’t need to buy the pack to experience everything. While Edge of Darkness is not a must-have, it does present an early advantage to most players due to giving them more access to more features during the early stages of every wipe.
Other Editions
Of course, there are much cheaper options for those who are not interested or cannot afford the Edge of Darkness. Each pack provides specific Stash and secure container sizes. They also offer varying reputations for traders. Here are the other packages that can be bought in the game:
- Standard Edition ($45)
- Small Stash (10×28)
- Basic Loadout
- Alpha Container (2×2)
- 500k Rubles
- Left Behind Edition ($75)
- Medium Stash (10×38)
- Basic Loadout
- Better Medical Equipment
- Alpha Container (2×2)
- $500
- Prepare For Escape Edition ($100)
- Large Stash Size (10×48)
- Better Gear
- Positive Standings with All Traders
- Beta Container (3×3)
- 250€
- Fuel Container
Escape From Tarkov’s Current State
EFT is currently in a state of disarray after recent wipes. Several in-game events have made players and traders sell essential and high-value items at a much lower price. This enables other games to acquire excellent loadouts easily.
While this is not a big problem per se, it does make the game even harder and scavenging less rewarding. Selling gear at much lower prices will make trading less profitable, which might bum out some gamers. Hopefully, the gaming studio can address the issue.
While Edge of Darkness will be discontinued after the game leaves early access, players can safely assume that a new version of the premium edition will be available. Hopefully, new game packages will feature the same set or even greater Tarkov items. Gamers can still buy the EOD edition until the game’s full release.
