I quitted my job on May and had no motivation to find a job. Until the end of May, after summarizing my four-year experience of working, I decided to find a job related to project management. Before resigning, I had one year experience of project management. But the project was not that formal. After checking the recruitment advertisement of several enterprises, I discovered that they all required employees to acquire PMP certification. Therefore, I searched some information on the certificate online, finding that to be a project manager, it is necessary to obtain the certificate because it is valuable. Through learning PMP certification, I could also build up a complete project management knowledge system. Thus, I was determined to sign up for the exam. I spent an afternoon researching on and consulting the relevant information about the exam, and the signed up for it on May 30. On July 6, I took the first class. The exam date was September 7.

Here, I would like to introduce PMI firstly. The full name of PMI is Project Management Institute, a non-profit academic organization established in 1960 in Philadelphia in the United States with a purpose of promoting and mutual learning and communication of project management professionals worldwide. PMP, Project Management Professional refers to the certificate issued to project management professionals. It is issued by PMI, strictly assesses whether the knowledge and skills of a project manager are qualified.
When talking about management, every culture has its one set of management methods and values. In the 1980s, the US sent batches of talents to learn management in Japan. In Chinese culture, the management culture is also long-standing and worth learning. Anyway, the PMI PMP exam Shop this training here is worth taking and it is necessary to acquire the certificate.
1. Candidates should have at least 35 hours experience of project management training covering the 9 major knowledge domains in the project management knowledge system.
2. Candidates should at least satisfy one of the following two conditions:
First, the candidates should have bachelor’s degree or above. Applicants are required to have at least 4500 hours experience of project management within the 6 years before application, covering the five major project management processes (initial, planning, executing, monitoring and closing). The accumulated project management month should at least reach 36 months.
Second, the applicants do not have bachelor’s degree or have the degree below. Applicants are required to have at least 7500 hours experience of project management within the 8 years before application, covering the five major project management processes (initial, planning, executing, monitoring and closing). The accumulated project management month should at least reach 60 months.
Because candidates must satisfy the first requirement, we have to participate in PMP certification training launched by institutions. And you must attend the courses by institutions that is certified by PMI.
As for the exam fee, the fee for the first time is roughly 612USD. The second time is cheaper, but I don’t remember very clearly for I didn’t want to take the exam for the second time.
Suggestions on choosing the training institutions.
It is very important to choose a training institution that is certified by PMI. Otherwise, you can even not sign up for the exam. You also need to check whether the institution provides follow-up services. Because PMP certificate should be reviewed every three years or it will go invalid. To maintain the validity of the certificate requires 60-hour PDU. Therefore, you should choose an institution offering PDU acquiring methods and reviewing services.
The training philosophy, faculty quality, and previous PMP exam pass rate are important factors you can use to judge whether an institution is good or not. The training fees are generally similar.
I registered for the face-to-face classes aiming to know more people and communicate with them and to know about the mechanism of project management in different fields. Finally, I opted SPOTO.
