What is the Erectile Dysfunction Test that you can perform at home?
There are many tests that a person can perform to determine whether they have erectile dysfunction issues or not. But at the same time, you need to know that these tests are not 100% accurate, and that’s why doctors don’t recommend these tests at home.
1. NPT Test
NPT that stands for Nocturnal Penile Tumescence, is an ED home test that is used by most people.
In this test, a person has to stick a roll of stamps near the male reproductive part for a whole night. A man without an ED problem usually experiences erections during his sleep, with the one who has ED doesn’t.
So, if you have ED, then the roll of stamps will break apart around the penis, disconfirming your disorders. But if the roll of stamps is intact till the following day, it is a sign that you did not have an erection the whole night.
How to Perform:
For this test, you need to have 4 to 5 postage stamps. The texture of the stamps doesn’t matter, but there should be glue on the back of them.
If you do not have stamps, you can use other alternatives like strips of paper or glued paper for the test. Ensure that the paper strip is 1 inch wide and long enough that it covers the penis with a little overlap.
Avoid any alcohol consumption at least for 2-3 days before the day you pursue the test. And it is advised not to take caffeine to get better sleep at night.
2. Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SIHM)
SIHM is considered to be the most accurate way to diagnose potential erectile dysfunction. With this perfect questionnaire, you can get a clear indication of whether you have ED or not. You can take the questionnaire to the doctor, or you can also perform the test at home by yourself.
